I could not bring myself to spend the money for a Thermarest, so I bought this instead. It's bulkier when packed down and heavier than a Thermarest. However, those considerations matter much more if you plan to do serious camping. (We actually ended up carrying this on an overnight hike in and out of a canyon and it was no problem at all). The nice features of this pad are that it inflates fairly quickly and is very comfortable to sleep on. For the price, it's a decent value and will be nice to have for future camping-lite trips.
