This is a great product. I went to the ALPS site and really felt good about the company too. Unless it was just a marketing ploy, it is a family-run business with connections to Kelty.I use the shorty pad with a z-fold under it for hard surfaces or while car camping, but it is plenty thick enough to handle the job by itself. It is well designed with great materials and looks and functions just like a top of the line model.My GF got a pad from EMS for +$10 that just sucks compared to this one. Our air pads have been redesigned and improved for 2007. All of our pads are still heat bonded and use polyurethane open cell foam. They still inflate/deflate very fast and easy because of the JetStream Foam. Our lightweight series pads also feature tough and lightweight nylon ripstop fabric. A non-corrosive nylon valve is used for maximum durability. A FREE stuff sack and repair kit are included with every pad ... something many other companies make you pay extra for. The weight of this pad is 1 lb. 9 oz. and the packed size is approximately 5.5" x 10.5". These pads are a tremendous value and will provide you with many years of comfort.
